Welcome! The focus of my work is helping highly motivated people who are holistically-oriented and ready for change navigate life challenges and heal emotional wounds using the resources of both their conscious and unconscious minds. I believe that with the right support, the greatest obstacles we face become the springboard for radical transformation and healing.
I invite you to get in touch so we can talk about your needs and see how I can help. I look forward to hearing from you.

MINDY NEWMAN LMHC
I am a licensed mental health counselor (New York and New Mexico) with over 15 years of experience in counseling and human services. I have taught Buddhist meditation for the past 10 years for organizations including Tricycle magazine, Tibet House, the Ackerman Institute, and the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science. I have been certified as a hypnotherapist since 2014.
My approach is down-to-earth, collaborative, embodied and flexible. I strive to understand each person within the context of their unique life story and am LGBTQIA+ affirmative. Together we can create a treatment process that reflects your goals and priorities, with room to evolve as needed.
TESTIMONIALS
Samantha Braithwaite
Having been turned off of therapy from past experiences, I really appreciate how Mindy’s approach is both educational and experiential. Not only is she a safe space for me to authentically express myself, so also encourages and inspires me to step into my healing journey from a place of compassion and power.

Mindy was a crucial part of my surgery experience - before, during, and after. She helped me process my fears, openly state my biggest concerns, and go into the entire procedure with clearer expectations and an overall sense of calm. I had a better sense of what to expect, which was hugely helpful for me.
Wendy J Biddlecombe Agsar
Mindy and I have known and worked together for many years in the Buddhist publishing world, and I am fortunate to consider her a friend as well. I know that healing is not a linear path, but I already know that our sessions have given me valuable data about myself and the confidence to believe that I can truly heal.

MEDITATION
Behavior Change
Meditation can help cultivate positive behavior and support the process of breaking unwanted habits, such as smoking or overeating, by increasing self-awareness of triggers, reducing distress in response to them, and developing alternative coping strategies.

PSYCHOTHERAPY
Transforms Obstacles
We all experience unexpected challenges in life. Psychotherapy helps develop effective strategies for responding to both outer life stressors and self-limiting internal reactions that arise as a result of past experience. This increases feelings of empowerment and purpose, and enhances the ability to navigate challenges with greater confidence, resilience, and self-compassion.
Develops Self-Awareness
When we are struggling emotionally we often don’t understand the whole story of why, even though we might think that we do. Psychotherapy helps uncover the root causes behind emotional and mental suffering and creates opportunities for new, healthier beliefs and behaviors to emerge.
